So you have an eye cream but you’re not sure if you’re using it correctly? Eye creams one of the most commonly misused skincare products. To get the best results, use a high quality natural eye cream with no added chemicals.

The skin around your eye area is much thinner than other areas of your face and must be treated with extra care. Follow these simple do’s and don’ts to get the most out of your skincare regime and avoid reactions to products!

Use Your Ring Finger

Your ring finger is the best finger to apply eye cream with, as it has the lightest touch and is the least likely to tug at the skin.

Apply in Small Dots

This is where most of us go wrong. Apply small dots of product under the eye area, below the eyebrow and the inner and outer corners of the eye. Product should be applied directly underneath the eye brow, not on the eye lid.

NOTE: Do not apply product too close to your eye, your natural body heat will already push the product into your eye so it’s best not to apply product too close.

Gently Tap In

Once the product has been applied to the eye, use your ring finger to gently tap the product into the skin until it has been absorbed. If you must, use lightly sweeping strokes to gently massage product in.

Let It Absorb

Once applied, allow the eye cream time to absorb properly. Go and brush your teeth, have your breakfast or have a cup of herbal tea. It’s important to allow enough time for the eye cream to work it’s magic. 5-15 minutes is plenty.

Don’t Use Too Much Product

Don’t overdo it. As mentioned earlier, as your skin heats up during the day it will naturally push product into your eye. To avoid seeping during the day, only apply a small amount of product. Start with a small amount and add more if you need to so you avoid wasting product.
